Running But Not Seeing

There’s some great pictures to be had if you’re not the one running. If you are the one running, then you can just enjoy it and not worry about that perfect picture.

We’re so busy watching out for what’s just ahead of us that we don’t take time to enjoy where we are

– Calvin & Hobbes

I feel so freed up in this current season of running that I can just run and not feel pressured to put in a certain mileage or timed intervals. I know when the New Year comes around things will change again when I restart the training but for now I feel I can slow down and smell the roses. So refreshing!

Yesterday I ran until it got dark. The day before I regularly stopped for some photos. A few days ago I ran up to the field where they were playing high school football. I stopped to watch a while then jogged home. No pressure to keep pace. No pressure to pack in the miles.

All too soon I will be training again. But for now, I am taking it easy.
